Some Marvelous goodies were released today thanks to Marvel and Empire Magazine as we get a glimpse of the upcoming Netflix Series Daredevil.
Above Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) look perturbed while...listening to a client? Believe it or not this is actually the picture that excited me the most from this DD set. One of the things I found lacking from the Ben Affleck film was the lack of interactions between Foggy and Matt. Given that this is a 13 episode series, we'll be able to see not only the friendship between the two but how they work together as well.
I'm also excited to see Vincent D'Onofrio join the cast as Wilson Fisk a.k.a the Kingpin. He has such a wide range of acting talent that can be seen from Full Metal Jacket, The Cell and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. With news of Marvel finally getting the cinematic rights back to Spider-Man I would love to our beloved web head go up against the Kingpin himself! It'd be a great way for Marvel Studios to distance themselves from the other Spider-Man franchises.
The series also introduces the Night Nurse to the Marvel Cinematic Universe played by Rosario Dawson. Hey, when you can't get health insurance get a Night Nurse.
I also enjoy the fact that this is right out of the Frank Miller and John Romita Jr. The Man Without Fear arc as we see Matt Murdock above not dressed in his signature red horned outfit (or red and yellow outfit for that matter) but in his black street cloths, mask and billy clubs. This costume choice sets the tone for the the direction that this series is going in. Honestly, I couldn't be happier as DD has never really been a sunshine and rainbows kind of comic.
All 13 episodes will be available on Netflix on April 10th at 12:01 am.
