300 and Watchmen Director Zack Snyder has given us another taste of what is to come in Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. We've seen Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and even Aquaman but today we finally see the villain, or a villain from the film.
Over at Entertainment Weekly they revealed Jesse Eisenberg, dome head and all, as Lex Luthor. Snyder descibes his Luthor:
“He’s not any of the Lexes that you’ve seen, that’s for sure, other than him being a captain of industry and one person to the world and another person to himself. And bald, of course."
I've enjoyed Eisenberg's performances in The Social Network and Zombieland. He's proven that he has the acting chops to pull off a strong and intellectual antagonist, but when I close my eyes I can't help but hear Clancy Brown's voice from Superman: The Animated Series and Justice League...
Sorry Jesse, but Gene Hackman and Clancy Brown are hard acts to follow. I have to admit though...kid's got a good looking head and a powerful jaw line; just by looking at him he looks like a Lex in the making, like a Lex Luthor Begins, or Lex Luthor Episode I: Zack Snyder is a Menace.
All kidding aside, maybe that is what they're going with. Perhaps this will chronicle Lex's rise to power as well as explain his hatred for Superman or anybody wearing a cape. Maybe while Batman and Superman fight each other there is massive destruction and they are unable to help of give a damn to the people hurt from their struggle (see Man of Steel). AAANNNDDD...What if one of the people injured or killed is Luthor's sister or his hair....
Think about it.
Yeah, I'd look pretty upset too if Superman made me go bald. In the mean time, enjoy our speculation about the plot over on our Wednesday podcast and watch some Superman or Justice League: Unlimited to get your dose of an amazing Lex Luthor.
