Bob Kane has alway received sole credit for the creation of Batman. However, as far back the 1960's fans have advocated for the Dark Knight's co-creator, Bill Finger to receive the recognition that he justly deserves. These efforts include the work of Marc Tyler Nobleman and Ty Templeton as they recently created a book for young adult readers that explains Finger's involvement in the creation of Batman entitled Bill The Boy Wonder.
Today, the Hollywood Reporter published the statement from DC Entertainment that they will recognize the creative contributions of Finger in the new season of Gotham and the upcoming Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
DC Entertainment and the family of Bill Finger are pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement that recognizes Mr. Finger’s significant contributions to the Batman family of characters. “Bill Finger was instrumental in developing many of the key creative elements that enrich the Batman universe, and we look forward to building on our acknowledgement of his significant role in DC Comics’ history,” stated Diane Nelson, President of DC Entertainment. “As part of our acknowledgement of those contributions,” Nelson continued, “we are pleased to confirm today that Bill Finger will be receiving credit in the Warner Bros. television series Gotham beginning later this season, and in the forthcoming motion picture Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
Glad to see that there is some justice for the one who helped bring to us of the best members of the Justice League.
